Photos in Windsport Magazine

The new issue of Windsport Magazine arrived today and a few of my pictures made the cut. The first is a 2 page spread of Phil McGain crossing the finish line in first place during a race at the 2010 US Windsurfing Nationals. The photo captured John Craig shooting the finishing gun just as Phil crosses the line. Aerotech also ran an ad featuring some of my photos of David Wells.

Aerotech

With the shortest day of the year only just behind us, windsurfing season in San Francisco seems like a long way off. The launch of the new Aerotech website was a reminder to the contrary. The site announces several new sails for 2011 and features a bunch of photos I shot of Bay Area sailors David Wells and Jean Rathle.

Photos published in Windsport magazine

The newest issue of Windsport magazine has just hit mailboxes and newsstands across the country and it’s got two of my photos inside. Both photos are of Naish teamrider, Wyatt Miller. We shot the photos back on May 23rd.

The first is just inside the front cover, a two-page Dakine ad, is a shot of a big forward loop with the San Francisco skyline in the background. The second is a two-page spread within the exposure section with the Palace of Fine Arts in the background.

Formula windsurfing – overhead view

Even after a week of solid racing, a group of formula windsurfers took to the water today for some training. Steve Sylvester and Xavier Ferlet sailed from Berkeley to Crissy Field to meet up with Steve Bodner, Soheil Zahedi, and Aurelien le Matayer. Here are a few overhead shots of their session. Click on the photos below to go to the full gallery.

US Windsurfing Nationals photos finalized

After reviewing the thousands of photos I shot over all five days of the event, I’ve selected more than 500 images worthy of posting to the US Windsurfing Nationals photo gallery. It takes more time in front of the computer that it originally did to shoot all the photos. The photos are all categorized by sailors’ names, sail numbers, sail manufacturer, day, event type (formula, slalom, long distance, freestyle, juniors). Look under the photos for the list of keywords. Clicking on any of the keywords will filter the images that are displayed.

US Windsurfing Nationals & North Americans Day 3

Long distance and slalom racing were the order of the day today.  I hiked up to the Golden Gate Bridge to get an overhead view of the race. Phil McGain (KA7) was fastest on the trip down to Treasure Island and back and finished in first place.

US Windsurfing Nationals & North Americans Day 2

The second day of racing brought more foggy weather, but wind enough to get in three races.

2010 San Francisco NOOD regatta

More than 150 boats joined in this year’s Sperry Topsider NOOD regatta in San Francisco this past weekend including my favorites, the F18 catamarans. With 20 entrants, the 18 foot catamarans were one of the largest classes in attendance. Click on any of the pictures below to see more regatta photos.

There was also some good kite racing action. Here’s a kite passing another competing sailboat to weather.
