I’d heard from some friends that the USS Iowa battleship had been pulled out of the mothball fleet and was on its way to Los Angeles where it is to become a permanent museum. It is temporarily at the dock in Richmond just around the corner from the Red Oak Victory ship. It’s got until May before it heads south on the rest of its journey. The only part of the ship available for touring this time was the foredeck. Here are a few photos.
I was surprised to find the ship was decked in wood.

I imagine this holding warning signs of all the hazardous materials onboard.

And somewhere behind this door is the special quarters built for President Roosevelt when the USS Iowa took him across the Atlantic during WWII to meet with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin.

They could combine it with a pirate radio station and leave it at sea, boost the tourism aspect,
